The miniature sensors are designed to measure the critical temperature of equipment such as sleeve bearings, thrust bearings, bearing shoes, and various other bearings where temperature is critical to performance.
These types of bearings are generally used in the operation of high-speed rotating equipment such as compressors, generators, and turbines.
The sensors are typically imbedded or installed beneath the Babbitt layer of the bearing to monitor the temperature, allowing early warning of the breakdown of the lubricants. This early warning allows preventative maintenance to take place before major problems occur.
